Beyond the Wax Pot: Inside Our First Harley Wax Open Day

This September, Harley Wax hosted our very first Open Day at the beautiful Eve Beauty Studio in Somerset, bringing together beauty therapists from across the South West for a day of professional waxing, hands-on learning and conversations about the beauty industry.

It was a completely new experience for us, and one that we had been looking forward to for months. Our aim was to create a relaxed and welcoming environment where therapists could discover Harley Wax, ask questions, explore our professional waxing products and, most importantly, get hands-on experience with the wax.

After months of planning, seeing the day come together was incredibly exciting. Meeting new customers, finally putting faces to familiar names and seeing therapists experience Harley Wax for themselves made the whole event extra special.

Why We Created the Harley Wax Open Day

At Harley Wax, we know that choosing a professional wax is about more than simply picking a product from a shelf. The wax you use, the way you apply it and the technique you use can all have an impact on the overall waxing experience and results.

Unlike some professional wax brands, we don’t insist that therapists complete specific Harley Wax training before using our products. We love making Harley Wax accessible to beauty professionals, but this can sometimes make it difficult for us to demonstrate the differences between our wax and other professional waxing products.

We wanted to change that.

The idea behind our Open Day was to provide an intimate, relaxed environment where both existing Harley Wax customers and therapists who had never used Harley Wax could come along, learn about the range and experience the products first-hand.

Rather than committing to the time and cost of a full training day, therapists could spend time with the Harley Wax team, ask questions, discover the individual properties of our different waxes and learn more about the techniques that can help them get the best from their products.

For us, it was about creating an opportunity to learn without pressure.

Discovering the Harley Wax Technique

One of the biggest benefits of the Open Day was being able to demonstrate that using professional waxing products isn’t simply about the wax itself.

Different waxes behave differently, and understanding how to work with a particular product can make a real difference to a therapist’s confidence and technique.

Throughout the day, therapists had the opportunity to try Harley Wax for themselves and practise the Harley Wax method on both themselves and others. Having the opportunity to actually feel the wax, work with the products and ask questions as they went made the experience much more valuable than simply watching a demonstration.

It was a chance to slow down, experiment and really understand the products.

From Harley Wax Customer to Trainer

The story behind our first Open Day actually started several months earlier when we began talking to Natasha, the owner of Eve Beauty.

At the time, Natasha had recently decided to try Harley Wax after previously using another professional wax brand. Having worked in the beauty industry for around 15 years, she quickly noticed the benefits of Harley Wax and, just as importantly, the difference in technique.

Her enthusiasm for the brand was immediate. She loved it! Natasha became passionate about helping other beauty therapists discover Harley Wax for themselves and started sharing her experience with others. It was through these conversations that the idea for an Open Day began to take shape.

With her extensive experience in the beauty industry, her passion for Harley Wax and her desire to help other therapists, Natasha was the perfect person to become our hands-on trainer for the event.

She helped us create the perfect environment at Eve Beauty Studio in Somerset and was on hand throughout the day to answer questions, provide demonstrations and guide therapists through the techniques, tips and tricks that can help them get the most from Harley Wax.

More Than Just a Waxing Event

Although waxing was at the heart of the day, one of our favourite parts of the Harley Wax Open Day was the opportunity to simply talk to other people working in the beauty industry.

We heard so many different stories about how therapists first got into beauty, from those who had spent years working in salons to those who had taken the leap into running their own businesses.

We also talked about the challenges the beauty industry faced during COVID and the incredible resilience shown by therapists and salon owners as they rebuilt their businesses afterwards.

These conversations were a huge part of what made the day feel so relaxed.

We wanted therapists to feel comfortable asking questions, whether they were experienced professionals or completely new to Harley Wax. Sometimes the questions you might think are too simple to ask are actually the ones that can make the biggest difference to your technique and confidence.

Creating a space where therapists felt comfortable asking those questions was incredibly important to us.

Beauty Therapists From Across the South West

It was fantastic to welcome therapists from different parts of the South West to our first Harley Wax Open Day.Claire from Be Beautiful by Claire travelled from her nearby salon in Taunton. Having recently made the switch to Harley Wax, Claire came along to explore more of the range and discover some of the other professional waxing products available.

We also welcomed Kayleigh, who travelled from Teignmouth in Devon.Kayleigh has previous salon experience and is now getting back into beauty as she prepares to start her own business. After recently having a waxing treatment using Harley Wax, she noticed a real difference and wanted to experience the products for herself.

Stories like these are exactly why we wanted to host the event.Whether a therapist has been using Harley Wax for years, has recently made the switch or has never tried it before, having the opportunity to explore the range and speak directly with people who understand professional waxing can be incredibly valuable.

Getting Hands-On With Harley Wax

One of the most important parts of the day was giving everyone the opportunity to get hands-on with our professional waxing products.With Natasha available to guide everyone, therapists could practise the Harley Wax technique, experiment with different products and gain a better understanding of how the wax feels and behaves.

For us, this was one of the most rewarding parts of the entire event.

We believe that the best way to understand a professional wax is to experience it. Having the opportunity to try products first-hand gives therapists a much better idea of what works for them and how they can incorporate different Harley Wax products into their treatments.

The relaxed setting at Eve Beauty also meant there was plenty of time to stop, ask questions, watch a demonstration and then have another go.

We couldn’t have asked for a better setting for our first Harley Wax Open Day.

Eve Beauty provided a beautiful, comfortable space where everyone could relax, learn and connect. The atmosphere was exactly what we had hoped for when we first started planning the event.

From the welcoming environment to the delicious catering, every detail helped create a day that felt personal and informal while still providing valuable professional knowledge.

It was important to us that the Open Day didn’t feel like a traditional classroom-style training day.

Instead, we wanted it to feel like a community of beauty professionals coming together, sharing experiences and discovering something new.

What We Learned From Our First Open Day

As soon as the event finished, we knew we wanted to do it again.

The feedback we received from everyone who attended was incredibly valuable. It was fantastic to hear what therapists enjoyed, what they learned and what they would like to see at future events.

We’re taking all of that feedback on board as we plan our next Harley Wax Open Day.

There are things we know worked brilliantly, as well as ideas we can develop and improve. That’s one of the most exciting parts for us. This first event has given us a fantastic starting point for creating even better experiences for our customers and the wider beauty community.

What’s Next for Harley Wax?

We’re already planning our next Open Day, and we’re aiming for February 2027.

We’ll be keeping the same limited-number approach, allowing us to maintain the relaxed and personal atmosphere that made our first event so successful.

Our goal is to continue creating opportunities for beauty therapists to discover Harley Wax, explore our professional waxing products, learn new techniques and connect with other people working in the industry.
