Winter Waxing | A Christmas Checklist

Full Post

That time of the year is upon us once again – the time for leggings and jumpers, stockings and scarves. The cold season is is officially on its way and it is time for winter waxing! With the temperature beginning to drop, clothing is not the only thing getting thicker… Many people let their waxing routines fall by the wayside during winter, which can make for a disastrous first outing in warmer weather. With Harley’s winter waxing guide, you can smoothly transition from fluffy socks to shorts and sandals without the hassle of booking a waxing appointment first. As a bonus, waxing in the winter can mean even smoother results for longer. So, think of this as our gift to you this festive season.

Winter Waxing Tips

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

It’s the first on our list and it’s repeated. Three times. Hopefully that shows just how important it is during winter (and throughout the year) to hydrate. Dehydration in winter is a big issue, with cracked lips and dry skin plaguing many in the colder months. But did you know that your hair dries and cracks too, making waxing a lot more painful? So, by keeping your body hydrated, your hair will be less likely to break when waxing and your skin will stay healthier.

Exfoliate

Get into the habit of regularly exfoliating throughout winter – it helps remove dead skin cells, promote healthy hair growth and helps prevent those formidable ingrown hairs. If you are looking for a great scrub, look no further. We have a great Pomegranate Sugar Scrub available.

Get Into a Routine

Winter is the best time to get into a good waxing routine. Plan to wax every 3-4 weeks throughout winter and before you know it, your hair growth and pain levels will lessen drastically. This means that once summer begins, you can start waxing every 4-6 weeks as your hairs will be at a set length and easier to manage.

Length vs. Time

This goes along with point 3. Although the guideline is for 3-4 weeks, also keep an eye on your actual hair growth as hair grows slower in winter due to your pores constricting in the cold. Your hair should be at least about 1/8 inch long before waxing.

Don’t Forget to Moisturise

Hydration’s best friend is moisturising. These two go hand-in-hand to ensure soft, beautiful skin and quick healing times after winter waxing.

Follow these simple tips and you’ll be ready when the weather is warm enough for less clothes and more skin. If you would like to know more about the Harley product line for your winter waxing needs, read more here.
